Opened in August, 1999 Shepherd's Crook has earned rave reviews as a course that is both challenging and exciting to play. Designed by Keith Foster, who has designed some of the most interesting courses built in the last 10 years, is a links-style course that creates a feeling of playing Ireland's Ballybunion or Waterville courses. Shepherd's Crook's design reflects the golden era of golf course architecture of the 1920's and 30's with bentgrass fairways, tees, and greens.

Golfweek Magazine Rates Shepherd's Crook Golf Course
Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course was recently named one of the top best municipal courses in the United States. In its June issue, Golfweek magazine listed the top 50 municipal courses in the country. Shepherd’s Crook is ranked 18th on that list.
These rankings are based on the ratings of a team of evaluators on such standards as interest of greens and contours, best quality of conditioning, landscape and tree management, and overall land plan.
Shepherd’s Crook, a facility owned by the Zion Park District, opened in 1999 and has garnered several other awards and recognitions such as this; including “100 Best Fairways” by Golf for Women magazine and a 4 ½ star rating from Golf Digest magazines’ Best Places to Play.
